About Me

My name is Robert Gloria and I am a math educator and Open Up Resources community coach located in Los Angeles. A polymath at heart, I have spent the last 14 years in various roles including history teacher, science teacher, math teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Over the course of my career, I realized that math is by far the most important predictor of future success for my students and that the inability to master math can have huge repercussions that can severely limit future opportunities. Once I became a math educator I knew I needed to find a powerful tool to help me teach students math in a way that is aligned to the research that says students need to grapple with the math in a safe space, solve problems, develop conceptual understandings and develop procedural fluency. That is when I discovered Open Up Resources. I knew immediately that it was the right program from the first day of my Open up Resources training. I’m now entering my third year of implementation and am really excited to work with the Open Up Resources community to further our collective practice.
